Nearby Septic is a septic services directory covering Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Tennessee, Alabama and Missouri. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how to exercise your rights. We have written it to be specific rather than reassuring: where something might surprise you, we say it plainly.
We publish septic information and a directory of providers drawn from each state’s official licensing and registration records. Reading the site requires nothing from you. If you submit a quote request, we send the details you provide to septic service providers so they can contact you about the work. That is the entire purpose of the form, and it is the one meaningful disclosure of your information we make. We do not sell your personal information to data brokers, and we do not sell sensitive personal data.
Information you give us. When you submit a quote request or contact form, we collect what you enter: your name, phone number, email address, property location (address, city, county, ZIP), the service you need, and any details you add in a message field.
Information collected automatically when you browse. Our pages record technical and marketing-attribution data: the page URL you are on and the county or service page context; the referring website and landing page; marketing parameters in the URL (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content) and advertising click identifiers (such as gclid, fbclid, msclkid, ttclid); your device class, browser and operating system, screen and viewport size, time zone, and language; and timestamps. A first-touch record of how you originally arrived is stored in your browser’s local storage for up to 90 days.
Searches you run on the site. When you use the search box — including its “Use my location” button — we record what you typed, what it resolved to (the ZIP, county, state and service we matched, and whether we found a match), the page you searched from, and the time. The page you searched from is stored as a path only, with advertising click identifiers stripped out of it. We also store a one-way hash derived from your IP address: it is salted with keys unique to this installation and truncated to twenty characters, and it exists so we can tell one person searching twelve times from twelve people searching once. The address itself is never stored, the hash cannot be turned back into an address, and it means nothing outside this site. Nothing is recorded at all when your browser sends Global Privacy Control, and nothing is recorded for crawlers or for searches that did not start on one of our own pages. These rows hold no name, email address, phone number or browser user-agent string, and they are not connected to a quote request. We delete these rows two years after they are recorded. Because nothing in them identifies you, we cannot single out one person’s search rows to delete on request before then.
Information added by our servers. When a form is submitted, our server appends the browser user-agent string, the referring URL, and an approximate country and region derived from network headers supplied by our hosting and network providers. We do not store your full IP address with form submissions.
Cookies and similar technologies. We and our service providers use cookies and local storage for site functionality, spam prevention, and measurement. Measurement scripts are loaded through Google Tag Manager; bot protection on our forms uses Cloudflare Turnstile (both described below). Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies; the site remains readable if you do.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles about you, and we do not perform profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Septic service providers. When you submit a quote request, we disclose the information in that request to one or more septic service providers so they can respond. This is the service you are asking us to perform, and it is the reason the form exists. Once a provider receives your request, that provider’s own privacy practices govern what they do with it. We do not control them.
Service providers who run our infrastructure. Categories: website hosting (WP Engine), form processing and email delivery, content delivery, security, and bot protection (Cloudflare, including Cloudflare Turnstile), tag management (Google Tag Manager), and website analytics (Google Analytics). They process data on our behalf under their terms.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
Business transfer. If the site or business is sold or merged, information may transfer as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal data to data brokers, and we do not sell sensitive personal data. We share lead information with providers because you asked us to connect you with one. We are not in the business of selling contact lists.
If you tick the text-message consent box on a quote request form, Nearby Septic — operated by COMNIO LLC — will text you about that request: a confirmation that we received it, and the list of state-registered providers serving your county. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time; reply HELP for help, or email hello@nearbyseptic.net. Ticking the box is not a condition of submitting the form or of buying anything.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. That includes your mobile number and your text-message consent: they are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Providers are separate. When you submit a quote request we send your request details — including your phone number — to up to three septic providers serving your county, because contacting them is the service you asked us to perform. Those providers may call, text or email you about your request under their own policies. Your text-message consent to Nearby Septic is not passed to them and does not authorize their messages.
If you submit a quote request, you should expect to be contacted by phone, text, and/or email by the septic provider or providers your request is routed to, and by email from us about the request itself. Depending on the provider, calls may be placed using automated telephone dialing systems or artificial or prerecorded voices, including AI-assisted calling systems. Text messages from Nearby Septic itself are separate, and are described under “Text messages from Nearby Septic” above — we text you only if you ticked the text-message consent box.
Consent to receive those calls is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services. You can ask any caller to stop at any time, reply STOP to text messages, and request removal from our records using the contact details below. Standard message and data rates may apply.
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage. Google Analytics collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser characteristics, and referral source, and processes it on Google’s infrastructure. Information about how Google uses data from sites that use its services is available at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. We load Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager, a tag-management system that controls which measurement scripts run on the site; Google Tag Manager itself does not set advertising cookies or store personal information beyond transient data needed to load those scripts.
Forms on this site are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which distinguishes people from automated bots without making you solve puzzles. To do that, Turnstile evaluates limited signals from your browser and device (such as browser characteristics and interaction telemetry) and processes them on Cloudflare’s infrastructure. Cloudflare states that Turnstile does not use this data to build advertising profiles. Details are in Cloudflare’s privacy policy. If Turnstile cannot verify your browser, a form may ask you to retry; the rest of the site remains readable regardless.
Browsers can send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no common industry standard for interpreting it, and we do not currently respond to DNT signals.
We do honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where your browser sends one, and treat it as a request to opt out of any sharing of your information for targeted advertising.
Other parties may collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use our site (for example, the analytics and advertising-measurement technologies described above).

We will not discriminate or retaliate against you for exercising any of these rights.
How to make a request. Email privacy@nearbyseptic.net with the request type and enough detail for us to locate your records (the phone number or email address you submitted is usually enough). You do not need to create an account. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will only use what you give us for verification for that purpose.
Our response time. We will respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we may extend once by an additional 45 days and will tell you why within the original window.
How to appeal if we deny your request. You may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing privacy@nearbyseptic.net with “Appeal” in the subject line. We will respond to the appeal in writing within 60 days, and if we deny the appeal we will provide a written explanation and a method to contact the Texas Attorney General. You may submit a complaint to the Texas Attorney General at consumerprotection.texasattorneygeneral.gov.
We keep quote requests and their associated records for as long as needed to provide the service and to resolve disputes, and no longer than three years after your last interaction with us, unless a longer period is required by law. Analytics data is retained on the schedule configured in Google Analytics. Aggregate, de-identified statistics may be kept indefinitely.
We use HTTPS across the site, restrict administrative access, and rely on managed hosting with its own security controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
This site is intended for adults arranging services for property. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, email privacy@nearbyseptic.net and we will delete it.
If we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top, post the revised policy at this URL, and describe the change in a short note on this page for at least 30 days. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
