Permit fees, forms & process

New installs and major repairs need a permit from the local health district, and the rules that bind are the local ones.

This county’s full guide is still in production — the authority contact shown here is the official source in the meantime.

What’s different in Perry County.

Four things decide what you can build and what it costs: zoning, environmental protections, power for aerobic systems, and the ground itself. We publish each one only where we have checked it — and say so plainly where the answer is “same as the rest of Ohio”.

Zoning & land use

Perry County's subdivision regulations set the floor where public sewer is unavailable: a single-family lot needs 150 feet of frontage and 43,560 square feet — one acre; a two-family, multi-family, commercial or industrial lot needs 200 feet and 65,340 square feet. Section 62.00 applies those figures only where no zoning regulation covers the area, and in townships that have adopted zoning the township resolution governs instead.

Environmental protections

Nothing in Perry County changes this. Ohio requires an Ohio EPA NPDES permit for any system discharging off-lot to waters of the state, and adds requirements inside delineated source-water protection areas.

Geology & soil

The dominant constraint here is slope (73.3% of rated soils), followed by bedrock close to the surface (33.7%).
