Wyandot County ties a new operation permit to the deed. A property with a one-, two- or three-family dwelling that is sold, transferred or conveyed, and is not exempt from real property conveyance fees, needs a new operation permit for its existing system. Permit terms run ten years for a septic tank to a leach field, subsurface sand filter or mound; five years where the secondary component is unknown; one year for an aeration unit or NPDES system.

The dominant constraint here is a water table close to the surface (39.0% of rated soils), followed by water perching on a restrictive layer (36.2%).
