Zoning & land use
All 36 Northumberland County municipalities run their own Act 537 sewage program on DEP's tabulation, so the permit is a township or borough matter. The county layer that does bite is its subdivision ordinance, which governs in 17 named municipalities. Where zoning does not exist, Table 1 at Section 405 requires 43,560 square feet — one acre — and 100 feet of width for a lot on on-lot sewer and water, capping density at one unit per acre.
